Quick answer: A printable baby tracker is a one-page daily sheet to log feeds (time, side or amount), sleep, wet and dirty diapers and notes. Print a stack for the changing table or the nanny. It's useful for the first weeks and for handovers, though an app adds totals, trends and sharing.
TL;DR
- Free PDF in A4 and US Letter: daily log, weekly feed grid, caretaker handover sheet.
- Columns match what pediatricians ask about: feeds, diapers, sleep, meds.
- Prefer digital? Tot logs the same things and shares them.
This free printable baby tracker gives you three sheets: a 24-hour newborn log, a weekly feeding and diaper grid, and a caretaker handover sheet for nannies and grandparents. They're designed to answer the questions your midwife or pediatrician will ask in the first weeks.
How to use the printable baby tracker
- Choose a sheet: Daily log, Weekly grid or Caretaker handover.
- Choose paper size: A4 or US Letter, and oz or ml.
- Download the PDF and print, or fill it in on a tablet.
- Write the time of each feed, side or amount, each diaper (W/D), and sleep start and end.
- Bring the last few days to checkups.
How the printable baby tracker works
The sheets are generated as static PDFs at build time. Daily log columns: time · feed (L/R minutes or oz/ml) · diaper (wet / dirty / both) · sleep start · sleep end · notes / meds. Footer: expected diapers by day of life (NHS), and 'Tot is a log, not medical advice; call your doctor if you're worried.'
| Sheet | Best for | Rows |
|---|---|---|
| Daily log | first 6 weeks | 24 (one per hour) |
| Weekly grid | spotting patterns | 7 days × feeds/diapers/sleep |
| Caretaker handover | nanny, grandparents, daycare | last feed, last diaper, naps, meds, notes |
Worked example
In week one, Sara keeps the daily log on the changing table. On day 5 she counts 6 wet and 3 dirty diapers, which matches the footer chart. By week three she switches to Tot so her partner can log night feeds from his phone.
Paper vs app
Paper is free, needs no phone at 3 am, and works for any caretaker. An app adds automatic totals, timers, reminders, trends and sharing. Many families use paper for the first days and an app after that. See printable newborn tracker vs an app.
What pediatricians ask about
In the first weeks: number of feeds, wet and dirty diapers, and weight gain. Later: sleep, solids and medicines. Our diaper count calculator and baby feeding chart explain the numbers.
For caretakers
The handover sheet is built for nannies, grandparents and daycare. If they'd rather use a phone, Tot's caretaker sharing lets them log into the same record.

FAQ
Is the printable baby tracker free?

What should I track for a newborn?
Feeds (time and side or amount), wet and dirty diapers, sleep, and any medicines. In the first weeks, feeds and diapers are the most useful.
How long should I track my newborn's feeds?
Many families track closely until feeding is established and weight gain is steady, often the first 4-6 weeks. Your pediatrician may suggest longer if there are concerns.
Can I use it for twins?
Yes. Print one sheet per baby, or use the weekly grid with a column per baby. Tot also tracks multiple babies.
